1. Is it true that Kicking The Dog is based on writer/director Scoot Lammey's life?
Basically. There were some minor changes, such as using mayo rather than ranch dressing, simply because it sounded better.
2. Where was this film shot?
It was shot in Loag's Corner, PA, which is near West Chester, 45 miles west of Philadelphia.
3. How long was the shoot?
It was a 20 day shoot. I chose quiet locations because the film is dialog driven.
4. I saw beer pong being played in the movie. Is Scoot any good at the game?
He is a legend at beer pong, as well as similar games such as Boone's Farm Pong. He is also considered by many to be the greatest left handed wiffleball hitter of his era.
5. The cast is great, where were they discovered?
The entire 12 member cast was found in New York. Carl T. Evans, who plays 'Matt', portrayed boyfriend Jonathan Casten in a season of 'Beverly Hills 90210', and also starred in two seasons of 'As The World Turns' and three seasons of 'Guiding Light'.
6. The songs are great. Where did you find the songs for the soundtrack?
They're all bands from southeastern PA - near Philly, West Chester and Reading. Scoot saw many of the bands perform and asked permission to use their songs. Go to the LINKS page to see the websites for all of the bands. Pawnshop Roses has 5 songs on the soundtrack.
7. Is that Victory Beer being used in the film?
Yes it is. Victory Brewing is located in Downingtown, PA, near Scooter's home. He is a fan of their beer and they gave him permission to use the beer in his film. They also provided great pizzas on the weekends for cast and crew. A screening for nearly 200 people was also held at Victory Brewing.
8. The cast appears to truly be friends, were they?
I think they developed a bond during the shoot. They were all great to work with and fun to be around.
9. Does this film have distribution?
A deal with Imageworks Entertainment has been signed. Hopefully it will soon be everywhere!
10. What if I have a question that is not answered here?
Send an e-mail. Scoot will answer it.
